Perpetual Travelers

There Are Many Ways To Build A Lasting Relationship

There are hundreds of things you can do to better your relationship. To help get you headed in the right direction, I’ll highlight many ways to build, strengthen, and enhance your relationship.

Remember, little steps taken every day will add up to big successes.

1. Start Over

When couples first get together, everything is new and exciting. They overlook the little annoying things the other person does. However, after time, the nagging starts, instead of hearing, “You look beautiful,” they might hear “Why are you wearing that shirt?” If this sounds like your relationship, first, the two of you need to sit down and be honest that things have changed. Identify the things each other did in the beginning of the relationship that created the attraction in the first place. Then together, make a commitment to start over. The truth is, both of you will have to work on this. It will not automatically be easy but it is possible. Start by forgiving each other, forgetting the past, and then start over with the flirtation. Focus only on the special things your mate does and relearn to put the unimportant things aside. It will take some time so be patient.

2. Schedule Time

Spending quality time together is crucial. This time can be with friends, dining out, attending a sporting event, or cuddling together while watching a favorite movie. The activity is not what is important but the fact that you are together, doing something that you both enjoy. People have extremely busy schedules and between work, family, the home, errands, and everything else going on, finding time for your mate can be difficult. Just as you would schedule a meeting on your calendar, show some courtesy in the relationship by scheduling time with each other. Once the plan is in place, no backing out unless you have some life and death emergency.

3. The Power of Touch

When a child is ill, doctors will tell you that it is proven that a simple, loving touch of a parent can quickly pull the child through a crisis. It is the same for relationships. Playing with your mate’s hair, rubbing their hand, a soft kiss on the neck, a soft pat on the leg or giving a gentle back rub will make a huge difference in how your mate responds to you. When was the last time you walked up to your mate for no reason and without saying a word, affectionately placed a kiss on their neck? This is not in a sexual way, but an affectionate way. There is a difference. The next time the two of you are sitting in the car, at the grocery story, or standing in line at the theater, quietly reach over and take their hand. Do not be surprised if you get a strange look of curiosity the first time!

A Baby Shower Cake is the Highlight of the Baby Shower

When you’re holding a baby shower one of the most important items that you’ll serve is the baby shower cake. Cakes should be the highlight of the food lineup and should be served with a selection of desserts, finger food and cookies. Cakes can come in all shapes and sizes, including baby cakes, diaper cakes and bootie baby cakes.

When you’re planning what type of cakes to prepare for the baby shower you’ll find many babyshower cake cookbooks from which to make your selection. If you know the baby is a girl you can decorate the cake in a pink style. The same goes if the baby is a boy, in which case you’ll want to focus on blue or green colors.

Baby shower cakes can be either one large cake, or you can make several smaller individual cakes which can be created for each guest that is invited.

The main focus of cakes is of course the expectant mother. Baby cakes make a great centerpiece that will bring a smile to any expectant mother. Diaper cakes also continue to be popular and are easy to make and assemble.

When you’re planning which cakes that you want to make you can be as creative as you like. There are cookbooks available that feature some great ideas for cakes that you can adapt to fit your baby shower theme. If the theme of the baby shower is the alphabet you can find cakes that highlight this theme. There is no limit to the types of cakes that you can choose from for the shower.

Many times the cakes themselves create the theme for the shower. This is because the cakes can be the focus and centerpiece of the entire party. You can plan all the decorations, food and themes around the type of baby shower cake you decide to feature.

When you’re looking for baby shower cake recipes you can find cookbooks in the recipe section in your local bookstore or library. You can also find a selection of recipes for baby shower cakes and diaper cakes on the internet. If you can’t find the exact cake that you have in mind for your baby shower you can make any adaptations that you need to modify the cake to your liking.

Cakes should be as fun and creative as possible. There may be times when you want to hire someone to make the perfect cake. But keep in mind that half the fun of a baby shower is doing things yourself. Using your imagination, and a little help from cookbooks you can come up with the most amazing cakes imaginable.

There are many different types of cakes that you can choose from or that you can use as a starting base for your own babyshower cake ideas. Baby Shower Diaper cakes can often be paired up with edible cakes. This way you have the fun of a cake made from diapers and the deliciousness of an edible cake that everyone can enjoy.

Some themes you might want to use include:

1. Sports theme for boys

2. Princess cakes in pink for girls

3. Jungle animals for boys

4. Fairy theme for girls

No matter what type of cake you take into consideration your final choice should somehow reflect the theme of the baby shower.

Do Something for Your Customers

It has taken me many years to learn a simple lesson. There are
very few things in life that we are able to directly change. We
cannot change our colleagues, the government, the weather or our
customers. We cannot change our spouses or our children. If we
wish to change any of those things we must begin by changing
ourselves.

If you work in any organisation there are probably co-workers
who you do not get along with as well as you might. No doubt
they annoy and irritate you. But have you stopped to consider
what might happen if you treated them differently? Would they
react to you differently and become less annoying and nicer
people? Perhaps it is worth a try, just do not expect immediate
results.

Often it is easy to blame someone else for a situation when we
are equally to blame ourselves. Even if a situation is not our
“fault” it is still probably worth changing our own behaviour
towards someone else if that will produce an effect we want.
Even if the change just leaves us feeling better within
ourselves knowing that we have done whatever we were able to do
to change things we have still benefited.

How do you treat your customers? When was the last time that you
sent them a simple note to say “Thank you for your custom and
support,” have you ever sent such a note? How would you feel
towards a supplier who sent you such a letter? We like people
who show some concern for our welfare, we cannot help ourselves.

When was the last time you asked your customers if there was
anything that you could do for them? I do not mean as a veiled
message which, really means “is there anything else we can sell
you.” Simply and genuinely ask if there is anything you can do
for them without expecting anything in return.

Will some people take advantage? Probably but I am afraid that
is just life. Those people were always going to take advantage
in some way. What is important is the goodwill you generate
among the majority of your customers. If your customers feel
that you care about them they are far less likely to change
supplier and it will always be cheaper to keep existing
customers than to find new ones.

Why not just try the idea out with a few of your best customers
and see what happens? Just show you care about them without
expecting anything in return. At the very least you might just
find you feel happier in yourself.

School Fundraising Ideas -There’s Lot’s Of Them.

In today’s world school fundraising is a necessity, but to come
up with new school fundraising ideas can be a task for anyone.
If you go on the Internet you will find many neat school
fundraising ideas that will be more than suitable for your
needs. These school fundraisers usually are left up to the
parents and the teachers. It can become a monumental undertaking
to get this fundraiser together and make it a successful one.

There are many school fundraising ideas that you can choose
from, such as a car wash. You will have to choose a safe area to
conduct this type of fund raiser, but it is better held near a
main street where traffic is fairly heavy to have a good
outcome. You can organize a bake sale and have a wide variety of
cakes, cookies and breads. This too depends on having a
fundraising plan, but is one of the tried and true school
fundraiser ideas.

Have a pizza school fundraiser. This will be a popular sale as
many people enjoy pizza. You can sell coupons for discounts at
pizza places. There are companies where you can order chocolate
bars for one of your school fundraising ideas. This is always a
popular way to make money. Candles are a sure way to make your
fundraising plan a success. There are so many kinds and
different scents that everyone will enjoy and prove to be a sure
fire hit in any community.

Make sure you have a good fundraising plan before you start. Get
your support group together and make sure each one knows the
part they will be playing in this school fundraiser. You will
need someone to be in charge of handling the money, as well as
someone to set up and clean up after your school fundraising is
over. So a good fundraising plan is essential for a successful
outcome no matter what school fundraising ideas you go with.

If you are really stuck with looking for school fundraising
ideas that will not cost you a small fortune up front, try
putting off a rummage sale. All you will need is a few
volunteers to give a helping hand such as collecting goods
donated by the community or things that some of the students
have outgrown. When you collect enough and have it sorted, then
pick a day for the fundraiser and do your advertising. Everyone
loves a rummage sale - it is like the old adage that someone’s
trash is another’s treasure.

There’s lots of school fundraising ideas, but not all will work
for you.

3 Steps to Defining Success and Defining Your Future

Q: Are you a success?

A: Its all in how you define the word!

An American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican Village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked.

Inside the boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The banker complimented Miguel, the Mexican, on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. Miguel replied that it took only a little while.

The banker then asked why he didn’t stay out longer and catch more fish. Miguel said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs. The banker then asked, But what do you do with the rest of your time?

Miguel said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life, senor.”

The banker scoffed, “I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing and, with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats.

Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise.”

Miguel asked, “But senor, how long will this all take?”

To which the banker replied, “15-20 years.”

But what then, senor?

The banker laughed and said “That’s the best part. When the time is right you would announce a public listing and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions.”

“Millions, senor? Then what?”

The banker said, “Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings, where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos.”

What is your definition of success and how are you getting there?

As the story of Miguel so eloquently illustrates, life success is so closely tied to our values and the way that we want to live our lives. We can easily lose direction and what is truly important to us by being drawn to what success means to other people, ideologies, or pop culture. Being clear on what success means to you and how you are working toward it is EVERYTHING!

Check Yourself

Take a moment to ponder the direction that your current choices are leading you in your life, career, relationships, and health.

Now, make sure you are clear that how you are living in relation to each area is how you ought to be living according to your personal values. You may need to first get clear about your values in each area. Hint: grab a pen and paper for this one.

Finally, identify one step you could take in each of the four areas that would bring you closer, or more fully into, what is truly successful in these areas.

Just as the investment banker believed that Miguel should live by the bankers definition of success, so do we often live our lives by a completely different definition of success than we truly ought.

A thoughtful check of your internal map and compass could start small changes that can take you to destinations as different as Wall Street is to a small fishing village in Mexico!

Microsoft Dynamics GP: Great Plains Recycling Business Automation

Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains could be considered as generic ERP platform to be tailored to fit specific industry and market niche. Being mature MRP system and so having a lot of third party modules, Great Plains could fit the unique industry requirements combining these third parties and custom coding. New version: Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains 9.0 will have more options for C#/VB.Net developer, including more exposure to .Net XML web services and Visual Studio. However the GP workstation client code is Microsoft Dexterity written application and we will be focusing on Great Plains Dexterity customization.

• Industry Specifics. Recycling containers are rented to customers and based on the balance customers might become vendors - we send customer or vendor invoice and receive or send payments. Clients typically pay for container rent and at the same time - we pay to the client for the recycled materials collected

• Service Module. We can use GP Service Advantage Suite or WennSoft Service module to account sending service crews onsite.

• Fixed Assets. We also could deploy Great Plains Fixed Assets module to account and depreciate leased and insured equipment. Fixed Assets serves as assets depreciation tool, so it might not be enough to track assets by projects

• Invoice/Credit Memo. Based on the net results for the month - we should issue invoice or credit memo to the customer and the challenge is - it should be all originated in one screen to automate the user interface. The best way is - Dexterity screen where you get Service Invoice/Order from WennSoft or Service Advantage Suite (in some cases you should send it first to Great plains SOP). In this screen you should be able to enter positive and negative quantities and net it to either invoice or credit memo.

• Customer/Vendor Consolidation. In Great Plains in order to return money to the client you should use customer/vendor consolidation and transfer credit memos to vendor invoices. Please note that Customer/Vendor consolidation module is available for Great Plains Professional (it is not available for Great Plains Standard)

• Payroll and Contractor Expenses. Great Plains Business Portal has employee self service and you can have your contractors and employees to enter their expenses, such as driver tolls and mileage. Another way is to use Great Plains Integration Manager to feed expenses into Payroll or Accounts Payables module

Product Review: Denim Hair Bows for Girls

If your little girl loves to dress up like mine does, then
she’ll love the cute bows and other clothes available at Little
Angels Boutique.

The package came all the way from Canada in great shape. It took
about a week to be mailed, but this is normal when coming from
Canada. If you want the best shipping prices from Canada to the
US, you’ll have to wait at least a week. Any shop that gives me
the best shipping prices is one I’ll be shopping at again!

My daughter absolutely loved her new hair bows, and wanted to
put them on just as soon as they were out of the box. Pink is
one of her favorite colors, so she was thrilled the bows match
just about all her clothes.

The set of 2 we received were blue jean bows with frayed edges.
A pink gingham fabric (100% cotton) is tied inside, to give the
effect of the blue jean being the “edges” of the bows.

The bows are the clip type, so it’s easier to add the bows after
her hair is put up in pony tails or pig tails. My daughter
doesn’t wear her hair in pig tails so much, so we have only used
one at a time so far. She has to wear her bow every time we go
out now, and she looks completely adorable!

Other hair bows are also available at Little Angels Boutique. In
addition you will find dresses, hats, jackets, jewelry, and
other clothing. Very cute items!

Relax, Your Hair is Really not Catatonic

If you are a woman and have experienced baldness, you know how psychologically damaging this can be. Female pattern baldness usually involves a typical pattern of hair loss with a genetic predisposition, aging and hormones. Alopecia in women is not as common as it is in men. Hair grows at an average rate of about a half an inch per month. Hair grows for two to six years and then goes into a state of rest and eventually falls out. Hair regrowth soon begins after the old falls out, so at any one time about 85% of the hair is growing and 15% is resting.

Baldness in women occurs when hair does not grow back into place. Female pattern baldness is not well understood, but it is associated with aging and genetic predisposition. Also, the levels of endocrine hormones, particularly ones called androgens which are male sex hormones, have a key role to play. Changes in androgens actually affect hair production. After menopause, many women find that thinning hair is common and their facial hair is more coarse. Even though new hair is not produced, follicles remain alive and this suggests the possibility of new hair growth.

Female pattern baldness is different from male pattern baldness in the following ways. The frontal hairline usually remains intact from where it basically fans all over the head. Hair loss on the crown may be moderate, but this rarely progresses to total or near baldness as it does in men. Women can have a temporary shedding of hair called telogen effluvium. Some can have alopecia areata which is an immune disorder, or hair loss can be a result of certain medications and skin diseases. Alopecia areata in women usually starts out with patchy hair loss and can progress into more severe hair loss over time, if not treated properly.

Risk factors for enlarged prostate

Proven First: Ageing

Second: Testosterone

Probable Genetic

Possible

- Western diet - Hypertension - Diabetes - Obesity -
Industrialized environment - Increased androgen receptors -
Oestrogen/testosterone imbalance

Any normal man will develop BPH if he lives long enough. Time
and male hormones (dihydrotestosterone and testosterone) are the
only proven risk factors for developing BPH. Prostate cells are
much more sensitive to dihydrotestosterone than testosterone
itself. An enzyme specific to the prostate, 5-alpha reductase,
converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. Men who are
castrated in their youth, or who lack 5-alpha reductase, do not
develop BPH. Recent studies indicate a probable genetic link for
BPH. A male with a first degree relative who has had surgery for
BPH has a four times’ increased lifetime risk of needing
prostate surgery himself. This genetic link is especially strong
for men under 60 years of age with large prostates. Some studies
indicate that male hormone receptors (androgen receptors) may be
increased in BPH cells. The role of environmental factors such
as diet, obesity and an industrialized environment is not
entirely clear.

Interesting facts about prostate cancer

Here are some interesting facts concerning prostate cancer and
its treatment.

- One in 10 000 men under the age of 40 develop prostate cancer,
whereas one in eight men between the ages of 60 and 80 suffer
from the disease. - For some reason not yet fully understood,
the rate of prostate cancer among black men is higher than that
of other race groups. A possibility exists that higher levels of
testosterone may be responsible. - Many men die with prostate
cancer, but not from it. -Although it has not been proven
conclusively, it is thought that a diet high in fats could lead
to increased testosterone production. -Lack of exercise can lead
to general ill-health and makes someone more susceptible to all
sorts of diseases, prostate problems included. -A man with three
first degree relatives with prostate cancer has a ten times
increased risk of developing prostate cancer himself. -The
prostate needs time and male hormones to develop cancer.
Testosterone does not cause prostate cancer, but is essential
for prostate cancer to develop. - Men whose mothers or sisters
have developed breast cancer are also at increased risk for
prostate cancer. - Because prostate cancer generally takes so
long to develop, many doctors opt for the so-called ‘watchful
waiting’ as a treatment option. - Besides castration at a young
age, which is obviously not a viable option, there is no certain
way of preventing prostate.

How Does Your Website Make Me Feel?

When people think about the Internet, they think about technology. When people hear that I am a Website strategy expert, they see me as a “techy type”.

But for me, the most intriguing aspect of your online business isn’t about the technology. It’s about human connections, and how you can create these in a virtual environment.

It’s commonly understood that “people buy emotionally, not intellectually.” Even when people think they’re making a rational decision, powerful subconscious factors come into play. To sell effectively, we’re told to anticipate our customers’ needs, to demonstrate that we “feel their pain”, and to respond to clues in their body language and tone of voice.

In the “real world” we do this very well. And we know that if we can have a direct, in-person conversation, there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll close the sale or keep a happy customer.

For the online visitor, your Website is the next best thing to that in-person conversation with you, your colleagues or employees. And since so many people are researching products and services on the Web, it’s critical that your site has maximum impact in persuading them to take the next step with you.

So how does your Website connect emotionally with your visitors? Do they feel listened to, understood and appreciated by your Internet presence? Are you instinctively meeting their real needs? Do your existing customers feel supported and valued when interacting with you online?

Or are you failing to evoke the crucial emotional responses which can significantly enhance your response rates, sales and ongoing return on your Web investment?

The Critical Emotions for Website Success

I’ve been working with client Web strategies in a wide range of industries since 1995. Based on this experience, I’ve identified some key emotions that you need to evoke in your online visitors to create and sustain a profitable relationship.

How well your Website does this can have a major effect on the visceral, instinctive reactions of your visitors, and their propensity to buy from or connect with you.

In total, I have twenty criteria for emotional connectedness that I suggest for any Website. That’s too many to discuss in this article, but let’s look at a few highlights:

Do I Feel Recognized?

When we first meet in a business setting, we’re introduced, or we introduce ourselves with some statement about what we do, and why we should connect with each other.

When we talk with customers or prospects, it’s important to show very quickly that we understand their issues and needs, and that we have ideas and solutions to address these.

The most important task for your home page is to accomplish this initial introduction. You’ve heard the “ten-second” rule about how long a visitor will stay on a site that doesn’t engage them.

So, does your home page really tell me what you do? Does it speak to me in specific terms that make very clear what services you provide, and what type of customers or clients you work with? Does it use language that I’ll understand even if I don’t know the jargon of your industry or specialization?

Sounds simple?

There are astounding numbers of Websites that fail to provide basic information on the home page.

If your goal is to get the customer to visit your store, does your home page clearly show your location, and how to get there? Every time you force the visitor to make a decision, such as “Do I click on the Contact Us page to find their address?”, you open up the possibility that they’ll make the wrong choice (from your viewpoint), or worse still, they’ll just leave.

And is it clear to me whether you can - or would want to - help me? Are you geared towards corporate bulk buyers, or small businesses, or both? Do you operate nationally or only in your immediate location? Will your visitors know what you mean by generic terms such as “business systems” or “total business solutions” or should you be more specific as to what you offer?
Do I Feel Engaged?

As we continue our “real-world” conversation, we start to find common points of interest, whether personal or professional. We begin to feel that we can relate with each other, and this helps to build our business relationship.

So your Website has to make the visitor feel drawn in - that they want to know more about your business, your products and your services - but again, from the viewpoint of their needs and interests. And you have to give the visitor a clear sense that you want to find those points of connection, and to learn more about them.

If the visitor doesn’t feel invited in, if they feel left to themselves to find their way around - if they’re overwhelmed, confused, or simply not interested in your site, they’ll leave.

Does your site present a bewildering array of manufacturers, products, or options without any guidance as to selecting from these? Think about the conversation that you’d have with a customer in your store. You’d find out what they were looking for, and then you’d ask a number of questions to help them find the right solution for their needs.

So how can you mirror this process online? You could offer a “Help Me” page that guides visitors through some Frequently Asked Questions or other choices and provides links to recommended products based on their answers. You could incorporate an interactive chat facility with a customer service agent during office hours, or access to a searchable knowledge base.
Do I Feel Convinced?

If the visitor is seeing your business for the first time, they need to be comfortable that you are who you say you are, and that you can deliver what you promise.

One of the most important elements in establishing this part of the connection is to show the “faces” of your business. Have you noticed how many Websites don’t name any of their owners, or the people that customers will interact with? It’s much easier to have a conversation when I know who I’m talking to!

Customer testimonials and other third-party endorsements are critical elements in establishing trust - they say far more about you than your own marketing statements. How many sites have we all seen that trumpet “nationally recognized” or “premier provider . . .”? Prove it!

Include client quotes and success stories right across your site where they’re front and center as visitors are engaged in your content. If you win an award, tell the visitor what that means for them in terms of how you were evaluated.
Do I Feel Motivated?

Towards the end of our “real-world” conversation, we’ll hopefully close a sale, or we’ll talk about some next steps, or we might say “Let’s stay in touch”. To do that with our online visitor, we need to persuade them to buy something, or to tell us who they are, and give us permission to reconnect with them.

Too many Web pages tail off with no call to action or directions about where to go next. If you don’t issue a clear invitation, you again leave it to the visitor to work out what to do - and you run a big risk of losing them.

So at every point on every page where the visitor might be thinking “Tell me more”, or “How do I get this?”, provide a clickable link to the next step, to your shopping cart, to your newsletter subscription page, or to whatever you want them to do. Don’t wait until the end of the page - they may never get there! Look for the emotional “tipping points” on every page where they’re ready to talk more with you and grab them in the moment!

Diluting the Connection

Of course, it’s all too easy to undo all the good feeling that we create by frustrating or annoying the visitor, or simply by giving them a dead end.

One of my favorite bugbears is the site search engine that allows me to enter my query, and then tells me “No results found. Please try again with different search terms”.

How is that supposed to make me feel? What was wrong with my keywords or my parameters if the search page allowed me to select them? Am I being stupid? Or do you really not want to help me?

Your visitor is clearly looking for something, and has taken a step towards connecting with you. So how about a results page that lets them know that you can’t immediately answer their question, but offers a link to your contact form so that they can send a question, or some tips or suggestions on how to find more information.

The ultimate customer service feature is an opportunity to interact with a live assistant - if your site offers this utility, the search results page is a perfect place to maximize its visibility.

So how “Emotionally Connected” is your Website?

I hope that I’ve sparked your curiosity enough to take a fresh look at your Website.

Think about specifically why visitors are coming to your site, what might be on their minds, and review your copy and navigation accordingly. Think about new customers and existing ones, employees, media - everyone who might have a reason to visit. Are you doing everything that you can to create an “emotionally connected” experience for everyone?

The right mix will gain you significantly higher time spent on your site, more calls from pre-qualified leads, more signed contracts, happier repeat customers, attention from new markets, offers of strategic alliances and collaborations, and insights into creating successful new products and services.
