Perpetual Travelers

HD TV early fights

Explaining why the broadcasting industry as a whole has not embraced HDTV as one might expect is difficult, especially today when so many are joining the high definition revolution. For a very long time television viewing was based on the analog signal. And it could be this long-standing operational mode that has broadcasters stuck in a time warp, resisting the progression of technology that is responsible for the development of HDTV. A lot of broadcasters have been playing the “chicken and egg” game for a while now but try as they might they cannot stop the march of progress. In 2009 they must comply with the mandate to convert from analog signal to digital signal for general audience viewing.

Consumers on the other hand are scratching their heads wondering what the problem might be that has caused 10 years ago by and for the most part television programming is still being delivered in analog as opposed to digital signal. Television set and other consumer electronics manufacturers have been quick to jump on the bandwagon of HDTV producing a variety of components to help consumers make the most of their high definition programming experience whether or the source is over the air broadcasting or high definition movies.
